About the Principal

Gloria Martinez-Vega
Principal, Dudley Elementary School
Gloria Martinez-Vega is the principal of Thomas H. Dudley School in East Camden. The school serves scholars in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. Thomas H. Dudley School is an educational facility where the members of the school community are valued, staff and scholars feel safe and secure, and above all, scholars receive preparation for college and career. This atmosphere is one element of many that contributes to the school’s ultimate goal: To create future leaders that will build a better foundation in Camden.

During Principal Martinez-Vega’s tenure in the Camden City School District, she has worked as vice-principal of Woodrow Wilson High and of Charles Sumner Elementary School. Principal Martinez-Vega has also served as principal of Rafael Cordero Molina Family School and Charles Sumner Elementary School. Principal Martinez-Vega began her career in education as a secondary school teacher.

After graduating high school in Puerto Rico, Principal Martinez-Vega relocated to Camden, New Jersey, to further her academic career. She received a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and a master’s degree from Cheyney University. She has also completed her doctoral coursework through the University of Phoenix. She has maintained a lifelong connection with her hometown school, nurturing a relationship between her alma mater and Camden schools. Two of the programs she is most proud of expanding at her previous school, is an academic mentoring group that serves boys and girls in grades 4-7, as well as a tie club that encourages positive student conduct and promotes career readiness.

Principal Martinez-Vega lives in Blackwood and is the mother of two sons.
